Sitting in chairs in one of the main causes of back pain in America.

Back pain is much less common in Asian nations, where more people sit cross-legged.

Problem is, this is just not a good option for most people. So what to do?  Continue reading below ….

It’s always a good idea to get up frequently, move around and stretch. Since I work from home, I do this a lot. Whenever I go for a long drive in the car, I stop often to at least get out and walk around.

Here is another option,  a back orthotic. It is a simple device that you can sit on. It can be used with almost any type of chair and in a car. Click here to learn more about back orthotics.

If you can’t get up and move around often there are some simple stretches that can be done while sitting and take jsut a few seconds. Check out the Back n’ Motion video for a complete set of back friendly movements that can be done sitting, standing or lying down.

If you have had success with any technique or method for reducing back pain while sitting, we would love to hear about it. Use the comment box below to fill us in. Questions are also welome.

Hi. I’ve been having pain in my lowerback, and also around my tailbone, but I’m not sure if it’s the muscle around my tailbone, or the acual bone. I’m a gymnast, so I’m active daily. I uess it wouldalso be helpful to know that I’m 13 years old. I’m almost always injured, so my dads idea was to quit gymnastics. Now you see, this is somthing i’ve been doing since i was three, and i love it with a passion. I really don’t know what to do. Doctors have taken x-rays, and say that they can’t see whats wrong with me. Could you help me?
