This is easy enough to do sitting in a regular chair. Part 2 of the exercise can be done in a chair of on the floor.

The piriromis muscle can get tight and put pressure on the sciatic nerve. This is what causes the pain in the butt, leg or numbness down the leg. Getting the piriformis to loosen up can be helpful.

It’s always a good idea to get up frequently, move around and stretch. Since I work from home, I do this a lot. Whenever I go for a long drive in the car, I stop often to at least get out and walk around.

Here is another option, a back orthotic. It is a simple device that you can sit on. It can be used with almost any type of chair and in a car. Click here to learn more about back orthotics.

If you can’t get up and move around often there are some simple stretches that can be done while sitting and take jsut a few seconds. Check out the Back n’ Motion video for a complete set of back friendly movements that can be done sitting, standing or lying down.

If you have had success with any technique or method for reducing back pain while sitting, we would love to hear about it. Use the comment box below to fill us in. Questions are also welome.

Absolutely No Risk

No money up front, to find out if the Inflex Plus works for your chronic pain situation in a satisfying way.

So here’s what you get: You get the Inflex plus, which is TENS and Interferential in one unit. It used to be, you had to go to a chiropractor or a clinic somewhere and get hooked up to a machine, to the electrodes, and lie there.

You had to, get an office appointment, get over there; it was a lot of hassle to go through to get an Interferential treatment. Nowadays, you can use this portable Interferential unit at home, or on the go. It even works on batteries.

Here is What You Get

You get the cables, nice long cables so the electrodes can go anyplace on your body. Actually, two sets of electrodes, there’s four electrodes- two sets of two, and you can put these on different spots on your body, so you can treat two different areas of pain simultaneously, if you like.

And also, of course you get the wall outlet, if you want to plug it in at home, and some nice electrodes. It’s really cool. There’s a nice pouch that seals them up to keep them fresh and clean in that package.

You also get this handy carrying package. A belt to strap to yourself, your wires can come out little hole, so the wires can go anywhere on your body. Strap this on and go completely mobile on battery power. Get Interferential or TENS on the go, and like I said, MedFaxx does not charge you a thing to try this out.

Glad to Help with Your Prescription

The only thing you need is a prescription, and the fine folks at MedFaxx are so kind, they’ll actually call your doctor, talk to your doctor, and work through the details of your prescription for you, so you don’t have the hassle and the headache of trying to get the prescription from the doc. MedFaxx will help you out on that.

So, give them a call at 800-937-3993 Or click right here. Fill out the form, with your name, address and information so that you can get started on the process of getting your free 30 day trial with the Interferential unit.

Thanks for watching!

When it comes to electrotherapy, some people get paranoid. Will I be electrocuted? Does it hurt?

No there is no chance of harmful electrocution. The small electrocurrent is not painful. It actually has a pain relieving effect. The worst that can happen, is you turn the unit up too high. This may cause some discomfort. But you are in total control. You control the amount of current and the duration. You can always press the stop button to cut it off immediately.

Portability makes possible activities that might otherwise be too painful.

Interferential therapy used to require a large unit that sat in a doctor’s office. Now thanks to modern technology, portable battery powered interferential is possible. A fanny pack, such as that that comes with the Infrex Plus, allows you to tote the unit around wherever you go. Just hook up the electrodes, adjust your setting and you are good to go. The lady in this video is now able to enjoy bowling and keep her grass cut. Activities that were a painful undertaking before portable interferential. Of course you would want to talk with your doctor about which activities would be acceptable for your specific condition. You would not want to aggravate or worsen a painful condition by overdoing it.

Avoiding pain killing drugs is a good thing.

Most folks like to avoid the side effects that come from prescription and over the counter pain medications. Interferential allows pain management without the use of drugs. Or in some cases lower doses of pain medication.

Will interferential therapy work for me?

This is an individual matter. You should discuss your specific situation with your health professional. If you would like to find out if Interferential works for your pain, Medfaxx offers a free trial. For 30 days, you can have the Infrex Plus in your home. Try it out and see if it works for you. If not you can just send it on back.

Sweet Pain Relief

As soon as I got the intensity of the unit cracked up to the right level, sweet pain relief was on the way. I strapped the fanny pack around my waste, zipped in the interferential unit and continued playing disc golf.

Wonderful Pain Free Experience

I had a wonderful time, enjoying the fresh air, green trees and satisfying pain relief. I even got a good does of vitamin D. From what I’ve read, exposing your skin to the sun helps your own body to produce vitamin D. I was careful of course not to let myself get burned. Much of the course was shaded by trees, I wasn’t getting blasted by a lot of direct sun.

Put it to the Test for Yourself

You can get your own portable Interferential unit on a trial basis to see if it works for you. Explore the right sidebar of this site to find out more.

Get Comfortable and Relax

The key here is to make the body completely comfortable. Cushions, pillows, blankets and other props help to make this possible.

Turn off the phone, TV and radio. Find a place to lie down and totally let go. Let your friends and family know you need a break.

Lying in silence is great, but sometimes I like to use meditation CD’s that promote alpha, theta and delta brainwaves.

Consciously relax every muslce in your body. Let gravity take over and let the body sink into the pillows and cushions.

Break the Pain – Stress Cycle

Let’s face it having chronic pain is stressful, and stress makes chronic pain worse. It’s a vicious cycle. Relaxation helps to break up that vicious cycle.

A Natural Pain Reducing Method

More and more people are looking to alternatives to additive pain pills and surgery. I love restorative yoga, because it is a totally natural way to relax.

The symptoms are very similar, pain down the leg.

The cause or root problem can be different however.

Dr George Best shares 2 simple tests, to help tell the difference.

Sciatica Exercises Part 2 – Revenge Of The Piriformis

Sciatica Test

True Sciatica is caused by a disc problem in the spine. Generally you have a bulging disc problem, that is affecting the nerve.
Dr George’s test is to start by sitting in a chair. Bend at the knee, straightening the leg out in front of you. If this increases the pain in the low back, hip area, or causes pain to shoot down the leg, it generally indicates a disc problem. Stretching may not always be the best thing for disc related sciatica.

Piriformis Test

Often what is called sciatica, is really piriformis syndrome. The sciatica nerve runs past, or even through the piriformis muscle in some people. If this muscle gets tight, it can cause pain in the siciatic nerve, in the hip and all down the leg. Stretching can help loosen the the pirifomis, improving the pain situation. Frequent short stretches, throughout the day, are generally better than one long stretching session.

Both Disc and Piriformis

Some people can suffer from both disc related issues and piriformis at the same time.

Easing the Pain with Electrotherapy

Regardless of the cause, electrotheraphy can often be an angel of relief for many people. Interferential or TENS treatment can provide welcome pain relief, while other therapies are undertaken to promote healing of the root problem. To find out if electrotherapy is right for you, click here.
