276 chronic pain patients were involved in the study. Vitamin D levels were measured with testing. Vitamin D testing is fairly inexpensive an simple process. Your doctor can check your levels for you. A strong association was found between vitamin D deficiency and the amount of narcotic pain medication that was required. Medications such as morphine and others.

Check out the video for more information.

Vitamin D comes from 3 main sources

Exposure to the sun

Food

Dietary supplements

We will find and post some additional vitamin D videos in the near future. We would love to hear your comments on the pain vitamin D connection. Please use the comment box below to voice your opinion.

Everyone is different and interferential therapy is not for everybody. There a a few conditions for which interferential treatment would be contraindicated. Having a cardiac pacemaker is one. Placing the electrodes over the abdomen of a pregnant women is another. Again check with your personal health professional for guidance on your unique situation.

Sweet Pain Relief

As soon as I got the intensity of the unit cracked up to the right level, sweet pain relief was on the way. I strapped the fanny pack around my waste, zipped in the interferential unit and continued playing disc golf.

Wonderful Pain Free Experience

I had a wonderful time, enjoying the fresh air, green trees and satisfying pain relief. I even got a good does of vitamin D. From what I’ve read, exposing your skin to the sun helps your own body to produce vitamin D. I was careful of course not to let myself get burned. Much of the course was shaded by trees, I wasn’t getting blasted by a lot of direct sun.

If you enjoyed this video on sciatica, please leave your comments below, we would love to hear from you. If you have a – Sciatica Success Story, we would love to hear it.

Put it to the Test for Yourself

You can get your own portable Interferential unit on a trial basis to see if it works for you. Explore the right sidebar of this site to find out more.

Here is a great video demonstration of where the sciatic nerve is located and where problems can occur.

Some people often mistake other problems for sciatica. Of course the real first step to solving any problem, is to determine the true cause.

Anyone who suffers from sciatica, or thinks they have sciatica, would benefit from this video.

Sciatica – Surgery Free Cure Part 1

Many Areas for Sciatic Nerve Problems

There are many points along the leg where entrapment can occur. All along the hamstring and in the calf, all the way down to the heal. The piriformis muscle, in the hip buttocks region, can tighten up, causing sciatic issues.

In the Spine

Problems can also occur in the spine. The nerve root of the sciatic nerve can be compromised. Disc bulge, disc herniation are some of the more common problems of the spine.

Sciatica – Surgery Free Cure Part 2

Avoiding Back Surgery

Before opting for back surgery, it’s a good idea to do a little more research on your own to see if a better option may exist. Once you have surgery, there is no going back. Your body is changed forever.

Active Release Technique

A.R.T., short for active release technique is one way to release entrapment sites. This requries a visit to an active release technique provider.

Right away, I started going to my chiropractor more often. She studied my x-rays and MRI.

In the mean time the friend who brought me motorcycle riding, for the first time in my life, – He had to show me where the brakes were an dhow to shift.

He loaned me his inversion table. what a blessing that was.

Some other Great Therapies

I fired up my hot tub and added Epsom salts, dead sea salt and lavender essential oil.

I also started doing restorative yoga, on a daily basis.

Lying on tennis balls, was wonderful for my spine.

80% Improvement in my back

I have given my back special treatment, massage and some TLC.

Benefits of Lite Movement

Now, movement can do a great job of loosening up tight muscles, improving circulation, bringing in fresh blood, strengthening weak muscles. For example, the stomach, the core, is very important for preventing back pain, because if the stomach muscles aren’t doing their job then it can be kind of hard on the back.

Also, working to improve your posture, getting good posture can do a lot towards alleviating certain types of pain and, as well, movement can help to reduce stress which is always very beneficial.

So we’re talking about things like yoga, Tai Chi, Chi Gong, these types of things that involve slow, gentle movements and also a meditative state. Now, what I like to do is go out and try to find a good class with a qualified teacher.

In Search of a Qualified Teacher

Now, what do I mean by qualified teacher? Usually when I go to Yoga class the very first thing the teacher does is go around the class and ask the students, “Who’s got pain? Who’s got some kind of a physical problem that I need to know about?” so that that teacher can then modify your particular situation so that you don’t experience worse pain and you can actually make improvements.

Now, the second thing that I look for in a Yoga class is one that links breath with movement. There’s a focus on breathing. It’s not just going through the motions, but it actually brings you into a meditative state and it works on that mind-body connection.

I like to look for a class where I resonate well with the teacher, because it’s also about the social interaction as well, not just going through the motions. There’s a huge variety of different types of Yoga out there.

It’s worth looking around to see what you resonate with, what you like. You can always dial up the teacher on the phone before you go in and ask him some questions to kind of feel him out to see what the class might be like.

Easy Meditative Movement is the Key

So again, I also said things like Tai Chi, Chi Gong, these are also good. They involve gentle, slow, meditative movements. Now, I also have some Yoga videos and stretching videos on our website: so feel free to head on over to check those out and get a sampling of yoga and stretching.

Easing Muscle and Joint Pain

Sometimes if I’ve got some real stiffness, I’ll hook up my Infrex unit, which is Interferential, or sometimes I’ll use TENS mode. You may be familiar with the TENS unit. It’s got electrodes that you place on your body. Interferential is very similar, but it really has several distinct advantages over TENS.

It has something called carryover pain relief, and what I’ll do is I’ll put the electrodes on, and then I’ve got a fanny pack where I can strap the portable unit around my waist, and that still allows me to do a lot of different types of movements.

You can get a FREE trial of an interferential unit to try at home. A doctor’s prescription is all that’s needed. The fine folks at Medfaxx will ship one right to you, no cost for 30 days. If it doesn’t work for you, just send it back. Fill out the form on the right hand side of this site to get started.

Is chronic pain slowing you down? Just can’t do the things you used to, or go places you love to go? I know several people that were this situation. They felt, “chained up” in a way by their ongoing, nagging pain.

Depression often goes along with this scenario. A feeling of being stuck. People feel frustrated and isolated by their circumstances.

The Infrex Plus May Help

Imagine the freedom a portable pain relief device could bring. Something that works off batteries or AC power. The Infrex Plus is such a unit.

Simply place the electrodes on the skin over the painful area. The Infrex Plus delivers electrical impulses to the nerve fibers, underneath the skin surface. Pain signals going to the brain are blocked, via the spinal cord and peripheral nervous system.

The Infrex Plus itself can be placed in a belt pouch that you can wear wherever you go.

What Makes it Better Than TENS

Sure you could do the same thing with a TENS unit. The advantage offered by the Infrex Plus is this - Interferential mode and TENS together in one unit.

Interferential therapy offers deeper penetration into the tissue. At the same time the electrical sensation from the unit is more comfortable than TENS. This usually also results in better circulation to the affected area. People are more likely to use the unit, because it is a more pleasing sensation. Folks who never got benefit from a TENS unit may be pleasantly surprised with the Infrex Plus.

Carryover relief is quite common with Interferential treatment. That means after you turn the unit off, the pain relief can continue for some time. This usually doesn’t happen with a TENS unit.

Will it Work For Me?

This is a great question. What’s good for the goose is not always good for the gander. The best way to find out is to just try it.

That’s why we offer a free trial. No gimmicks, no catch, we don’t even ask for payment up front. All you need is a doctor’s prescription. We can help you obtain one if you like.

To get started, just fill out the form on the right side of this web site. Someone from our friendly staff will get one of these in your hands, so you can get going on a better more fullfilling life. Insurance often pays for the unit, so there may be no or little out of pocket cost for you. Don’t just sit there suffering, fill out the form now.

I’ve taken the liberty to paste an email correspondence from one of our customers who had ordered Infrex electrodes on line from us. This is not an unfamiliar scenario where patients are paying out of pocket for supplies when they could be paid by the insurance company.

Hi Shayna,

If you’d like, we can file the claim for you and then re-imburse you for the amount they pay. I’ll drop the claim so it will be printed and I’m sending a copy of your email to Susan who handles our insurance billing. I believe we are filing with the insurance company for the purchase of the unit rather than rentals. As yet, I don’t think we have heard from them. Susan will be out of the office tomorrow, but should get back to you Wednesday.

I hope the Infrex is helping your pain. Let us know if you have any problems with it.

Good Evening Linda,

Bob had sent me an email saying that my insurance should pay for my electrodes as well as the INFREX Machine. I was just wondering how I get them to pay for them, do I go through you guys or do I have to contact them? As you know I just purchased some and I was wondering how I get reimbursed for the ones I have already paid for. If you could offer any assistance by telling me what to do or pointing me in the right direction I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you very much!

Happy New Year!

Sincerely,

Shayna

The reason for showing this is in most situations once a tens or Infrex unit is paid for by the insurance company then after that monthly tens supplies and other skin care products as well as topical pain agents will be paid for by the insurance company. For the insurance company the treating of the chronic pain costs after purchase is more than financially justified since now the problem is being treated and additional costs to the insurance company are much less than with traditional chronic pain patients. That translates into the insurance company is saving money if the Infrex or tens treatments are successful.
According to study few years back the biggest cost to the U.S. health care system is not cancer, not heart related issues, but chronic pain.
In most situations MedFaxx bills directly the insurance company for any tens or Infrex supplies so there is no out of pocket costs to our customers.

Hi Folks,

I’m Bob Johnson, owner of MedFaxx, and interested in helping you with pain situations. This blog is not intended to sell you anything, or persuade you of anything. It’s set up to communicate amidst all of us, educate when we can and report of good and bad experiences. That means if you have miserable experiences with our Infrex units, any product or our company then go forth and say it, hopefully with details, so others do not experience similar bad experiences. We will always try to change our ways if we need to change so no one has to experience bad situations. We also hope you will feel free to post when you have a good experience and share that with our fellow bloggers.

We are consolidating the mutliple blogs we have that deal with wound care, antipathogenic ultraviolet light, pain, muscle stim, iontophoresis etc. so we can do single posts and none of us have to search out new material. This will be fun and welcome aboard for what should be an informative and educational ride that has a bottom line of helping all of us live healthier and more pain free lives. Thanks.
