Does Mild Dehydration Contirbute to Pain?
Posted Under: chronic pain
I have been a water drinking advocate for a long time. We have all heard the message; Drink 6-8 glasses of pure water per day. Or whatever the amount is recommended by that particular health guru.
Well here is another good reason to drink water, it may reduce chronic pain. Yes it is possible that your back pain, arthritic discomfort, joint pain, sciatica may be worsened by a lack of water.
Now I’m not saying that drinking more water will cure your problem, or that a lack of water caused your pain in the first place. The fact is though, many people are walking around with chronic, low level dehydration, and it may be contributing to the problem. Just because you don’t feel thirsty, doesn’t mean you are getting enough fluids.
Why not try a simple experiment for yourself? For a couple days, drink more water. See if it helps your pain level or not. I would love to hear about your results. You can use the comment box below this article. Your story may help someone else.
What if you don’t like the taste of water?
First off avoid tap water. It tastes bad in many places, because of chlorine or other junk in the water. Recently scientists have discovered prescription drug residues in tap water. This is just the tip of the iceberg. Many other chemical contaminants are not filtered out by the folks who supply your tap water. Get some type of filtering system or go with a brand of bottled water that states it has been purified on the label.
A squeeze of lemon or lime in your water can improve the flavor. Just find some way to get it down.
