276 chronic pain patients were involved in the study. Vitamin D levels were measured with testing. Vitamin D testing is fairly inexpensive an simple process. Your doctor can check your levels for you. A strong association was found between vitamin D deficiency and the amount of narcotic pain medication that was required. Medications such as morphine and others.

Sweet Pain Relief

As soon as I got the intensity of the unit cracked up to the right level, sweet pain relief was on the way. I strapped the fanny pack around my waste, zipped in the interferential unit and continued playing disc golf.

Wonderful Pain Free Experience

I had a wonderful time, enjoying the fresh air, green trees and satisfying pain relief. I even got a good does of vitamin D. From what I’ve read, exposing your skin to the sun helps your own body to produce vitamin D. I was careful of course not to let myself get burned. Much of the course was shaded by trees, I wasn’t getting blasted by a lot of direct sun.

If you enjoyed this video on sciatica, please leave your comments below, we would love to hear from you. If you have a – Sciatica Success Story, we would love to hear it.

Put it to the Test for Yourself

You can get your own portable Interferential unit on a trial basis to see if it works for you. Explore the right sidebar of this site to find out more.

Get Comfortable and Relax

The key here is to make the body completely comfortable. Cushions, pillows, blankets and other props help to make this possible.

Turn off the phone, TV and radio. Find a place to lie down and totally let go. Let your friends and family know you need a break.

Lying in silence is great, but sometimes I like to use meditation CD’s that promote alpha, theta and delta brainwaves.

Consciously relax every muslce in your body. Let gravity take over and let the body sink into the pillows and cushions.

Break the Pain – Stress Cycle

Let’s face it having chronic pain is stressful, and stress makes chronic pain worse. It’s a vicious cycle. Relaxation helps to break up that vicious cycle.

A Natural Pain Reducing Method

More and more people are looking to alternatives to additive pain pills and surgery. I love restorative yoga, because it is a totally natural way to relax.

Stiff Neck and Sore Back

Caffeine certainly contributes to pain in my body. I can feel it, oftentimes while drinking a cup of coffee. My neck starts to tighten up, my jaw gets cranky, and the lower back starts to get sore.
Switching to white tea, made a noticeable difference within days. white tea contains less

caffeine than green tea, which has less than black tea, which has much less than coffee. – Especially if it came from Starbucks or some other high end coffee shop.

Inflammation and Muscle Tension

Coffee has been linked to inflammation, which is a factor in pain.
Too much caffeine can lead to muscle tension, which can add to aches and pains.

Not to mention the fact that caffeine clearly contributes to stress. We have all heard about the negative effects of stress. The adrenal glands take a beating, when the caffeine load gets too high.

So the bottom line: Is coffee or tea right for you? These drinks actually do have some health benefits, like antioxidants. And they do come from plants, so coffee could be considered a vegetable. – It’s a stretch I know…

In another video, I’ll be sharing a simple technique, that will help you determine if caffeiene is right for you, how much and in what form. It’s a dead easy technique, anyone can do at home.

I like to get in the hot tub with Epsom salts and a little bit of lavender essential oil.

Personally, whenever I have aches and pains, sore muscles and that kind of thing, this feels great.

Magnesium is Key

A little bit of that magnesium from the Epson salts is actually absorbed through the skin. This helps your muscles to relax. For centuries people have been using hot Epsom salt baths to ease their aches and pains and sore joints. The problem is people that eat a junk food centric diet or not likely to get enough magnesium. Magnesium deficiency is very common in western society. We tend to eat a lot of foods that aren’t so good for their magnesium. Now magnesium supplements aren’t necessarily a good way to increase magnesium in your body. They can be if you get the right quality supplement.

A really embarrassing thing happened to me.

I went to the store and I picked out the cheapest magnesium supplement I could find, brought it home and started taking it. The problem was, my intestines weren’t doing a very good job of absorbing the magnesium and it all wound up in my large intestine. There it caused diarrhea and discomfort. It was kind of embarrassing when I took it back to the store.

So do your own research and find a type of magnesium that is going to be better absorbable for your body. There was magnesium oxide in the supplement that I took and my body just didn’t absorb it very well.

Making the Problem Worse?

Now surprisingly, health conscious people can actually add to the problem by taking too much calcium. There is a big focus on osteoporosis; am I getting enough calcium, I got to drink my milk, I got to take my huge calcium pills. Well here is the problem. The calcium and magnesium are supposed to be balanced in the body.

If you are eating a true natural healthy diet of organic foods, fruits and vegetables, quality meats, nuts and seeds, oils and all kinds of proper nutrition, you would be getting some where around a two to one ratio of calcium to magnesium. You would have healthy levels of both calcium and magnesium, but hardly anybody eats that way, so they’re almost automatically deficient in magnesium to begin with.

Now add to that, a bunch of calcium and now you have a vastly skewed calcium to magnesium ratio; instead of a healthy two to 1, it is a much worse looking ratio and this really makes the magnesium problem in your body even worse. The body depends on magnesium for many many vital important functions.

Lavender Has Been Loved by Aromatherapists for a Long Time

Lavender essential oil is the most popular and well known essential oil for relaxation. When it comes to relaxing the mind and body, aroma therapist experts have been recommending lavender oil to their clients for relaxation for a really long time.

When I am in the hot tub, I just grab my little bottle of lavender oil and put a few drops on the sore spot. I rub it in a bit and then immerse it in the hot water. I also will be sure to put my nose over that spot on the water and inhale the oils that are released. This way my brain gets that relaxing scent that goes to the back of my brain.

Continuing Pain Releif

Infrex Plus - Pain Releif Machine

Once I am done with my hot tub and I have dried off, if I still have sore muscles, I get out my Infrex Plus, hook up the electrodes to the sore spot and turn on the electrotherapy. It puts out interferential current, which is one of the most popular forms of electrotherapy in the world.

It used to be you’d have to go to a doctor or a clinic to get interferential therapy, which made it expensive and time consuming and difficult for a lot of people to access, but with a home unit like the Infrex Plus, you can just hook it up yourself whenever you feel like it, plop on the electrodes and fire up the unit.

I like to use it whenever I want to do a little bit of exercise and I might have a sore stiff spot. I just put the electrodes over the sore spot, turn it up a little bit, strap it on with the belt and then I am able to do my movements in a much more comfortable fashion and it’ll actually help to relax my muscles a little bit and loosen things up.

Your grandmother was probably familiar with the “aches and pains” reducing powe of epsom salts. A hot bath tub and some epsom salt poured in.
I grabbed this video from Youtube. This chick is a little over the top, but you get the idea how to prepare an Epsom/lavender bath.

I personally like to use my hot tub, with 2 large bags of Epsom salts poured in. Then I rub a bit of lavender on the sore spots and soak in the healing water.
