Endorphin, opioid peptide releases using Interferential are associated with using in pulse range of 4,001 - 4,005 with visible motor twitching. Reason for the effective range ( 1- 5 pps) is the rate of conduction of the C-fibers is 1 - 5 m/sec so you have to allow what is called a "refractory period" of time in which the C fiber can repolarize.

C-fibers are the "pain fibers" and send message to brain to release more peptides for pain control. Where the phenomena is most present is in acute injuries such as trauma in auto accident, leg crushes, amputations etc and the patient might feel some pain temporarily but then the pain is over yet the traumatic tissue injuries are very severe. Part of survival technique so one stays awake and does not pass out from pain so we live and stay conscious in order to survive.

Generaly speaking interferential in an endorphin/enkelphalin release mode is not as effective as interferential therapy is with effective range in 4,050 to 4,150 pps.
